    urrrrgggkkk

    By briantologist | July 26, 2003

I’m sick. Or at least I was sick, and now I’m getting better. When I was actually sick, I was too busy with important things like moaning, clutching my midsection, and power-vomiting my 3-Cheese and Avocado sandwich, to write about being sick. There were also some unpleasant lower intestinal side effects I won’t bore you with. Yesterday I lay on the couch all day and didn’t watch TV until about 5:30 — that’s how sick I was. Bad times.

Being sick is weird. It’s nicer when people around you are willing to go buy you sick food like popsicles and soda crackers, and even more so when Jimmy Jam is all stealth-sweethearty and brings you soup and bread, that’s for damn sure. But the world kind of goes on around you. Darleece goes out with Max Power and Chesty LaRue; Mr. Jam is entertaining, and can’t stay long, and I’m at home with soda crackers and popsicles. And Super Troopers is on TV.

I guess the weird part is that I didn’t mind it that much. Not last night, anyway. I mean, it’s not like I was burning to go out but just couldn’t put one foot in front of the other; a quiet evening at home with the cats (who seemed genuinely pleased about my not going to work; finally somebody’s got the common sense to try their schedule out) was pretty much what the doctor ordered.

I ate breakfast this morning, haven’t had any bathroom unpleasantries since the initial knock-down, drag-out bout Thursday night, and at long last have managed to get a cup of coffee into myself (strangely, my persistent headache has disappeared!). I think I’m most of the way back. Maybe no large smoked salmon omelets just yet, though.
