Some good things.
By briantologist | January 31, 2004
This has not been, shall we say, a good week for me. It’s mainly just been a matter of me feeling cataclysmically awful, rather than actual bad things happening. Often regular bad things put on bulky overcoats and stand around my bed masquerading as much worse things than they actually are. Still, every time I fall for it. It’s remarkable, really.
That said, this week is over, and after today, January will be too. I’m officially blaming my recent bad times on January, with its persistent cloud cover, its post-holiday emptiness, and (in my case) its partial lack of selective serotonin reuptake inhibiting drugs.
The month is over, though. Even if it’s not technically over until midnight tonight, I’m declaring my January officially over. Yesterday was kind of a pre-end-of-January hoo-ha for me, in that included the following things:
• Gettin’ paid
• A rare weekday lunch with The Lady Darleece, during which I stole a papîer-maché eggplant and drank significant quantities of our old friend Margarita
• Gettin’ some work done, both before and after aforementioned Margaritas (I’m very polite on the phone after drinking, it turns out)
• A pan of chronic brownies
This last thing kind of cut the celebration short, unfortunately; I was kind of incoherent after this last entry. Still, it seemed like I was having fun. (Jimmy Jam, Li’l Scrapper, Mr. Marc, I apologize for my incoherence. It was, I repeat, the end of a tough week.)
Good things lie ahead. Despite predicted snow, I’m driving to scenic Oklahoma City tomorrow for some hot Super Bowl action with some non-hot (but still quality) friends. I had the foresight to take Monday off from work. I figured I’d be recovering from a whopping hangover of some sort, and while that’ll still probably be true, I may also be waiting out some snowfall on Dr. Voltron’s couch. Plus Monday is Groundhog Day, a holy day among my people, reserved for reflection and serious Gamecube time. Salaam.

I hear you on the tough week. I’ve been putting in some ridiculous hours, but somehow it still seems like I’ve gotten not nearly enough done. My tough week should end sometime in mid-March.
