    Back to the future

    By briantologist | November 24, 2004

Today’s experiment is a little ditty I like to call “Exploring the world of searing pain.” Apparently a disc in my back is falling down on the job, and thus one of my vertebrae is pinching my left sciatic nerve. On a practical level, this means a combination of severe achin’ and big-time numbness whenever I do strenuous things like sitting.

It’s gotten worse over the past day or so. I’ve got another appointment with Dr. Ouch on Friday, during which time the possibility of a steroid epidural has been brought to the table. Hooboy.

Ok, so spare the rest of us this awful fate and tell is how this happens. And good luck with all that mind shattering pain.

Speaking from experience on the back pain front, the shot should help quite a bit. Not the actual shot iftself, but after the shot gets to work, it should help.

If that doesnt work, I’ve got losts of pain medicine left from when I chipped my elbow.

And this is the good stuff.

I think it’s a combination of a mild scoliosis, 30 pounds of gut, and little to no exercise. Possibly flat feet as well. I’m thinking that with even a moderate amount of attention to diet and exercise (notably absent in my case), it’s pretty avoidable.

And oh, my dear Clayton, we’ll talk about them drugs.
