    Help a brothers out

    By briantologist | June 26, 2006

Two things for you today, both Super Mario Bros.-related. Part 1: In which a group of people with bright futures* do something truly inspired at a college talent show.

And Part II: In which Jason Bateman and Alyssa Milano introduce a performance of “Super Mario Bros. on Ice,” starring, as King Koopa, one Christopher Hewett, known to you and me as Mr. Belvedere. Also Mae West seems to be playing Princess Toadstool. Contains the following lines:

    • “First you tell me you’ve never been to Ice Capades, and then you tell me you’ve never played video games?”

    • “King Koopa? That looks like Mr. Belvedere.”

The Ice Capades version also differs from the video game in that rather than skilfully hopping on the heads of his and his brother’s enemies, Luigi seems to kill King Koopa’s minions with a shotgun. It’s surprisingly graphic in that regard.

I can only try to assure you that you’re not dreaming this.

    —————-

    * Here, “People with bright futures” also means “people who will likely live with their parents for a while, then work at unfulfilling jobs.” But whatever.

My favorite part was when Mr. Belvedere mentioned cold cream. The only man on the planet who knows what cold cream is has to be Mr. Belvedere.

there’s another, somewhere — I’ve apparently lost the link, if I find it I’ll email – it’s of an a cappella group doing a Nintendo medley. So awesome you will throw up. Or not.

Interesting “&search=belvedere” in the link there. You were searching for Brocktoon, weren’t you?

Look, all I’m saying is we should at least discuss the possibility of killing him. I just wanna open the floor to debate.
