the mountaintop
By briantologist | January 15, 2007

I just heard the “I’ve been to the mountaintop” speech on the radio, and it fucking killed me. I don’t know how it escaped my attention that he gave that speech the night before he was murdered, but Jesus, I just don’t have the words. God help us all.

When I was teaching at TU, I had a class full of students who had never heard the “I Have a Dream” speech (obv. not from BTW). I played it for them and many of them sobbed.

Thanks, cw, for the link; I played it for my 12-year-old just now so she’d know what this day off from school really was about.
And of course I bawled like a baby. What a dork.
