Go Ironmen!!
By ELB | March 26, 2007
From 1978 to 1984 my mother was the high school librarian in Nowata, Oklahoma. The following photos are from her personal collection. Whenever possible I put the note that appeared next to their photo in the yearbook. Please forgive me, as I left out some of the more incomprehensible extracurricular activities; VICA? Huh?
I have all the yearbooks and if I could scan every page, I would. As it is, you are all invited to my house to look at them. One of them has a Pink Floyd theme (1981), another has a COM-PU-TOR theme (1983) that my Dad was personally responsible for. You’ll find that at one point or another my entire family is featured in each and every volume. We were pretty hot shit in Nowata. That is, until my parent’s nasty divorce which resulted in my Dad moving out of our house and into the house of the high school art teacher.
If there was a personal message to my Mom on the back, I put that too.

These made me laugh so hard, I actually audibly snorted at work. Just phenomenal.

Hey, y’all had VICA too? It stood for something like Vocational Industrial something something — basically it was for all the burnouts and druggies to smoke up behind auto shop. I shoulda got to know those guys better.
