    My day thus far

    By ELB | October 17, 2007

As there is no Sandra Bullock movie on this morning (yesterday was Hope Floats with Harry Connick, Jr.) I’m watching the 194? Greer Garson “Pride & Prejudice.” I am already guessing that every Bennett sister is played by a woman well into her 30s.

Also, I’m considering walking to the library to get a Danielle Steel or Judith Krantz novel. I’m currently re-reading “Princess Daisy“, but I think I need to branch out a little. I’ve never read a DS, I’ve got to find out which one is her best. I will not be getting “His Bright Light” the story of Danielle’s bipolar son who overdosed, even though his tombstone/Civil Rights Memorial blows my mind.

My favorite DS novel is either Family Album or Daddy. Although I haven’t read them since middle school (ten years ago) so who knows if they are actually as good as I remember.

My guilty secret is that I used to read a shitload of Danielle Steele back in the day when I had no choice (either do nothing or read), so I would read my mother’s DS collection. DS actually has a couple of really good love/romance novels. I have a couple of suggestions: The Gift and Silent Honor. Those are the only two novels that I recall really enjoying. The rest were fluff.

Princess Daisy! That was one of my primary source materials for independent-study sex ed in my early teens, along with Clan of the Cave Bear and Flowers In The Attic. Yikes, what a trinity.

Tracy, hell to the yes re: Princess Daisy and sex ed. My sister gave me PD to read, not telling me about the hot girl-on-girl scene that takes place at Ham and Topsy Short’s weekend country horse-riding party.

Also, between PD and Flowers in the Attic, I was seriously confused, like, Isn’t fucking your brother bad? Then how come these books make it seem AWESOME! Even though he’s raping and everything.

also, considering your love of the soap, i can’t BELIEVE you haven’t read DS. half of her books are like a PG-13 version of an episode of DALLAS. so you know it’s “good.”

There is no best. They all sucked. But I liked Daddy.

Star. Read Star immediately. And I’ll read Princess Daisy because duh, now I have to.
