I am so into Wales right now
By ELB | February 24, 2008
All I want to do is watch Torchwood and Doctor Who, like, to the point of ignoring all personal hygene and sleep. In these past few months the dark lady, Depression, has encouraged me to stop talking to those I care about. It’s not their fault, it’s mine. But now that I’m perking up a bit and taking interest in other things, all I want to do is talk about the hit shows of BBC Wales.
Last night I stayed up until all hours watching 100% fully legally downloaded episodes. But then, once I’d watched all of this copyrighted material, I lay in bed and went over and over it in my head like me and Torchwood and the Doctor had just gone on a great date. You know how when you’re totally crushing on someone, you can’t really look at them because you’re embarrassed by how much you’re totally crushing? It’s a delightful, silly kind of blush. Maybe you guys (or in my case, me and some TV shows) are just getting to know each other and your crush makes a face, or says something dumb and you can’t quite decide if it’s charming or just dumb, but the more you wait, the more charming it is. Or maybe it really is just dumb, but the crush is so panty-evaporatingly hot that it doesn’t matter.
Naturally, after my successful date with not one but many ficticious characters, I hopped right out of bed this morning wrapped in the glow of fresh love. After feeding my child some cereal (see, I parent!) and sleeping on the couch for about half an hour while said child watched TV, I went to my computerator and started looking for more fully legal downloads. That’s when Doctor Who, Torchwood, and myself saw our relationship tested.
I was able to quickly download the first episodes from this one site, but that site only has X number of episodes, and I need VWXYZ number of episodes, so went I out searching for more. Locating these programs wasn’t difficult, downloading them was. Seriously, internet, I don’t have 17 hours to sit around waiting for 43 minutes of programming to worm its way onto my beleaguered hard drive. I need a fix right now! If I had that kind of time, I’d just wait for the Netflix delivery which is due tomorrow. But really, who am I kidding? If I were able to download those stories, I would have watched them last night, then watched them again when tomorrow’s mail came.
But as it is, I will have to wait. I guess it’s OK. Tonight is Oscar night and I will be far too consumed with my hatred for one D****o C**y.
In the meantime, I will just have to work on getting this image onto my homemade Trapper Keeper.

Oh my god oh my god, thank you. I just found your website through a link that I’ve forgotten in a haze of ecstatic geekery, and hi, the entire first sentence of this entry could have been ripped from my own mouth if I wasn’t too involved in watching TW and DW to form actual sentences. I JUST got into it [through that WWII zombie child ep, surprisingly creepy] but no one else I know digs either shows – and as an American with no prior Who experience? I am starting from scratch, here. Plus I have the added injustice of being on dial-up, so all I can do is pine for BBCA to slice the eps as it sees fit and put them on their schedule whenevs they feel like it.
Uh, anyway? I’m so glad I’m not the only newbie crushing in a huge way. My mom was into scifi so I’ve danced this dance by proxy with STTNG and Buffy, but this, this love is all my own. And I apologize for vomiting that love all over your blog. And Captain Jack’s shoes, maybe.

I know of others who have a supreme hate for D****o C**y. You are not alone.

I KNOW! Sometimes I just think and think about the Doctor saying “Rose Tyler.”

Oh, Mary, you can’t feed this habit with dial-up. For real, I’m starting to think I can’t feed this habit and maintain a healthy family life.

I am so glad I’m not the only one completely fucking obsessed with Torchwood right now. Phew!

Finally, someone else who’s not jumping on the Diablo Cody/Next Big Thing train! And what’s her drama about the million dollar shoes? Phony much?
Also, Barrowman is the hotness.
