Once More From the Top
Monday, April 11th, 2011I think maybe it’s time I started doing something here again. Here’s the thing: I’m not blaming the fact that I’ve been slipping gradually into being a shuffling nonentity on my lack of writing here. Really more on my lack of writing in general. Something always bugged me about this website before, though: I was [...]
Well, hello.
Monday, April 19th, 2010Welcome, you. You must be tired. I certainly am. Look, here’s the thing: Keeping this site was fun for a long time, and I think some good stuff has definitely come out of it. We’ve made friends with some terrific people, and that’s by far the best by-product. But clearly it’s just not doing anything [...]
The Day I Told Myself to Stop Whining, Again.
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010I’ve been in a career funk as of late. Specifically I’ve been funking about how I can’t seem to secure full-time, relatively stable employment anywhere, and how I’m generally just barely making ends meet, and how I get to interact with basically no one outside my own house, and how my motivation seems to have [...]
The Day I Got the Hell on With It Already
Friday, February 5th, 2010I’ve been running my head into this one piece of work for the past three days now. I should’ve been done with it yesterday afternoon. It’s not particularly difficult. It’s not something I have to search my soul or confront uncomfortable truths to finish up. It’s just a couple of damn web pages’ worth of [...]
The Day We All Got Snakes.
Thursday, February 4th, 2010Upon arriving home from preschool and shopping just now, Henry informed me of the following: We all have pet snakes now. His pet snake is named John. Erin’s is named Albert. (Albert is a girl.) Mine is named 37. He is 11 feet long. John eats leaves and beef. Today is The Day We All [...]
The Day I Had to Buy a New Car Battery
Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010We were dropping Henry at school, and Erin was gonna drop me at the coffee shop afterward. I work there frequently, exercising my limitless freedom as a telecommuter by purchasing sandwiches I can’t afford. We stopped in the bus zone, put the blinkers on, and stood around in the snow as Henry made little snowballs [...]
back on the bus.
Saturday, October 24th, 2009It was when I read this story, about shutting down one’s blog, that I realized I needed to start writing here again.
As I read about how ideas for posts were getting in the way of her working on her novel, or other stories, or grocery lists, or leaflets, the same idea came back to me that’s been plaguing me for kind of a while now: I’ve got nothing to write about. I’d certainly settle for a blog post or two.
in better news
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009I’m gonna go ahead and file this under “It Could Be Worse.” Like 70 or 80 times in a row. Yes, work has been insanely busy. Yes, I haven’t gotten enough sleep for several nights in a row, mainly because I’ve been up doing crap for work. Yes, these extra 40 pounds won’t stop following [...]
hello.
Monday, August 31st, 2009Good morning. Oh, neglected website. Why you haven’t given up on me and gone off in search of a career harvesting the personal information of unwitting senior citizens is beyond me. Is it your lack of personal ambition? I can relate, sir. Or perhaps your lack of sentience? Sadly, I can still relate. At any [...]
