Monday, May 9th, 2011One of my favorite things is when the DVR starts recording in the middle of a sentence. This goes double when it’s a news promo. This goes triple when the sentence fragment is the one I just heard in this context: “—wading into the snake-infested floodwaters.”
The Day The Super Bowl Ads Hated Women
Sunday, February 7th, 2010Three, count ‘em, three companies made a point of reminding all the dudes watching how awful it is to be forced, FORCED, to spend time with women. Let’s compare, shall we? 1. Dodge Charger: For When You Hate Your Wife, and the Life You Have Because of Her! A subtle reminder of some Very Important [...]
The Day I Had This Idea.
Monday, February 1st, 2010I don’t know if it’s a function of age, or crushing-but-desperately-necessary routine, or prescription medication, or what, exactly, but what’s become so alarming to me about my life over the past couple of years is how it’s all been running together in one big mass of days I don’t remember, or weeks or months I [...]
back on the bus.
Saturday, October 24th, 2009It was when I read this story, about shutting down one’s blog, that I realized I needed to start writing here again.
As I read about how ideas for posts were getting in the way of her working on her novel, or other stories, or grocery lists, or leaflets, the same idea came back to me that’s been plaguing me for kind of a while now: I’ve got nothing to write about. I’d certainly settle for a blog post or two.
spade not called spade
Sunday, June 28th, 2009I try not to get overly political up in this muther, but that’s less from a lack of desire to express political viewpoints and more from a lack of desire to formulate a well-thought-out opinion that doesn’t involve as much profanity as I generally choose to use. That said, I heard something on “On the [...]
we can be heeeeeeewooooooes
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009So the theme for NaBloPoMo this month is “Heroes.” Not the godawful show, but the broader concept. My feelings on the former are honestly more clear-cut than those on the latter; the concept of heroism, for example, did not start sucking goat balls two episodes into the second season. Here’s the part where I lazily [...]
Farewell, Hair Guy.
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008Ladies and gentlemen, the man who truly made me realize that the truly scummy come in both red and blue leisure suits; the man with the hair of a fundamentally untrustworthy human being; the man who’s apparently on tape saying “I’ve got a fucking gold mine here, and I’m not gonna let it go for [...]
… aaaaand puppies.
Monday, December 8th, 2008So yeah, at some point that whole NaBloPoMo thing fell off a bit; these things happen. But! This is not important. What is important is that you read this story, in which two puppies save a three-year-old boy from freezing to death. It’s every bit as cute as it sounds.
rad rad rad
Saturday, November 15th, 2008All right, people. We just returned from dinner at the truly awesome Marie’s Pizza & Lounge, and color me impressed. The food was average, but the drinks were insanely cheap and the atmosphere, my god, the atmosphere … (You’ll note the liquor store on the left; it occupies as much space, if not more, than [...]

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008“Woman Wearing Cow Suit Charged With Disorderly Conduct.” Best line: “The report did not speculate as to why the woman was wearing a cow suit.”
